OK, so we haven't updated our blog for a long time!!!! I just can't get motivated to come sit in the freezing cold basement and type on the computer. So now that the weather is getting warmer, I hope that will change. Not to mention that we spent the last half of February coughing and hacking our lungs out thanks to the lovely respiratory flu that's been going around. We are all currently in good health and we hope it continues.
Last night for enrichment we celebrated the Relief Society's Birthday. I was asked to write a birthday card to the RS and read it out loud. I'm not much of a writer, or a poet, but when I think of greeting cards I always think of sappy, cheesy poems. So I ended up writing a poem and I thought I would share it just in case you are interested.
Dear Relief Society,
Wow! Where do I even start?
Another year has come and gone with memories close to my heart.
Thank you for the laughter, the memories and the tears.
I have received so much hope and blessings throughout these many years.
Many times when I was down, you helped to lift me up.
You brought me meals and words of comfort, to fill both my physical and spiritual cup.
When I had to move away, from my family and friends so dear.
It was the sisters of Relief Society that comforted me with cheer.
To all my visiting teachers I wish I could convey,
How much your friendship means to me, each and every day.
We dedicate ourselves to strengthening marriage, family and home.
This is the united cause of sisters, no matter where we roam.
We stand for truth and righteousness, our cause we know is just.
Through our virtue, faith and charity, represent Jesus Christ we must.
We keep our testimonies burning bright through prayer and scripture study.
It’s the only way our minds can stay, clear instead of muddy.
We strive for exaltation and have a destiny that is divine.
Going to the temple will help keep us in a line.
I’m so grateful for these blessing and hope I can repay.
The many things you’ve done for me along my journey’s way.
So Happy Birthday Relief Society, with many more to come.
May your light keep shining bright,
From you dear and closet chum.

YES! I WAS interested in re-reading that poem. I love everything about it but I think the last line made me smile the most.
This added a lot to the wonderful night we had THANKS DEBBIE!!
Hey Debbie - its the Browns. I can't believe you say you're not much of a writer. I was guessing that night that this must've been your major in college. You did great! You're very talented.
Your poem was amazing! Thanks you so much for sharing!
