Warranty Conspiracy

I am irritated! In 2004 when I purchased my truck, I actually also bought a warranty (I still can't believe I did it but it really did happen). For the past several weeks, I get a weekly notice in the mail telling me to renew my warranty. When I see a notice, I just chuckle to myself, tear it up, and throw it in the trash.

Four or five days ago, I passed the 60,000 mile mark thus terminating the warranty that I purchased (of course I never used it - $1,200 down the drain). But wouldn't you know it, two days ago the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on (at approximately mile 60,196). I swear there is some type of indicator in the truck computer telling it that it is over the mileage limit and to turn on that dang light. I don't notice anything wrong with my truck. I actually did get the oil changed the very day it went off so I checked to make sure that Lube Doc did in fact put oil in my truck. Sure enough, there is oil. I am so irritated at that bright yellow light! What do you do?

I guess I will call the dealership on Monday so I can set an appointment to pay them a bunch of money to turn off the stupid yellow light.

SO irritating! That has happened to me more than I care to think about. I hope it turns out to be nothing. Good luck!

When that happened on our Honda, I took it to the autozone and they did a free diagnostic test. It turns out that Honda just programs that light to turn on so that you service your car at key points in the life of the car. Hopefully that's all it is.
I felt REALLY dumb when the guy told me nothing was wrong, but at least I didn't have to pay him.
